nelly 0 Posted November 5, 2007 Ok, i'm having some issues with my 306 xsi's gear selection. I've just finished replacing the engine on my xsi (8v) bolted the gearbox back on and fitted it to the car. With the selector rods fitted the gearstick now sits at an angle towards the drivers seat where previously it was central and i can only select 1st - 4th (again previously all gears could be selected) I've taken all the selector rods off and swaped them over (top to bottom and left to right etc) , well the smaller two but this makes no difference The top of the smaller selector rods conected to the swinging arm on the gearbox seems to be pushing the top of the ajoing rod on the gearstick towards the drivers side of the car. the said swinging arm will also only move in one direction, towards the passanger side of the car. is this normal? any ideas as to what may be wrong or is it new gearbox time? thanks in advance for any help as this is the only thing stopping me getting back on the road and off public transport
nick 3 Posted November 5, 2007 The adjustable gear rod from the gearbox adjusts the position of the gear lever in the car (side to side). It shouldn't have moved unless you have been fiddling with it. Nick
Batfink 201 Posted November 5, 2007 theres some issue about when you remove the selector fork the part that goes into the gearbox can drop down and something detaches inside the box. I dont know the proper details though
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted November 5, 2007 theres some issue about when you remove the selector fork the part that goes into the gearbox can drop down and something detaches inside the box. I dont know the proper details though Thats usually when swapping a non 205 gearbox into a 205 & you've changed the selector arm on the gearbox. What engine & gearbox is this? You say 306 XSi but your signature says 106 XSi? What exactly have you changed while it was out? Graham.
