Quicky! To Remove The Clutch Cable Should I Persevere With Attempt

Recommended Posts

To remove the clutch cable should I persevere with attempting to undo the two small nuts on the end which are proving difficult? Or is there another lesser known method? I realise it's a long shot so left it with some WD overnight..

If there is enough slack you can unhook it from the gearbox end with a little effort.

Last time I swapped my gearbox I didn't need to undo the locknuts, I had just enough play to get the end out of the clutch arm.

If you've not got enough slack, disconnect at the pedal end - then you will have :)

If its a Be3 gearbox you'll have fun trying to unhook it from the pedal end with it still hooked on at the gearbox end imo.

Even with the cable unhooked, the pedal end can be entertaining.

If your having real problems, you could use a sutiable bar and press the pedal in (@ the gear box) so theres slack and just un hook the cable.

But usually a squirt of wd40 and some mole grips should do it. But if its really rusty then its just asking to be replaced, and they're only £12

stick your foot under the pedal and lift it up - cable will prob. drop off

Never had this happen, they usually take a bit of force to unhook the plastioc clip from the pedal if its been fitted properly in my experience.

It should positively clip into the pedal end.

If I remember right I undid one bolt that was easy to access and the pedal comes free.

Aha, I've got into the habit now of just unbolting the pedal, it's not always the quickest way, but it's stress free.

Thanks all. I got the cable released from the arm by levering the clutch lever backwards and sliding the cable and other parts out through the gap, in the end much easier than undoing nuts on some thread which has surface rust on it.
