I find that I get a lot of blow by at idle so that you can really notice air (and fumes) escaping from the end of my breather system. Putting up your hand the to rocker cover vent you can feel it blowing gently on your hand. When the engine is off idle you can't notice it at all.

Compression is good and the leak down test I did at the weekend showed between 5-8% loss on all cylinders with all of the leakage coming past the rings.

I'm pretty confident that this is normal but thought I'd check with you guys! :)

If we are going to be sitting in traffic it's all I can do to get any passengers. I think of it as character but they view it as my car being a sh*tbox!

Mine's the same, breathes a lot at idle but dies down above that.

But then it's on 130k and the last 40 of those have been from 4000-6000rpm....

Mine does it a lot. But I think it is a combination of

1) not bedding the valve seats when I replaced the head

2) A cam with heavy overlapp

3) 140,000 miles on the clock

I rigged up a catch tank behind the headlamp but I still think I can smell it..Sometimes I think I'm imagining it..

I might even go back to the standard fliter setup one day or vent the catch tank vapours back to the filter plate
