They regularly appear on ebay in the UK, available in 406 coupes and also Renault Espaces i think

Infact there's a guy in the next town to me that breaks 406 coupes specifically, he's always got some on ebay

Oh my gosh.... does this 207hp V6 engine actually fit into a 205? If so, for £500 or more I might be tempted to have one of those instead of the GTi-6. :)

Anyone got any specs on this specific engine? Thanks.

no it requires quite a bit of fabrication work.

Hilgie on here has done one

iirc it needed custom top engine mount, custom driveshafts, subframe modification, custom gear change link and clutch mechanism

quite a bit of work, certainly not a bolt in job

And harder still on RHD cars as the brake servo is on the way.

Okey, I'll stick with the GTi-6 then.

Sorry for the thread hijack as well. :)

there are 2 different types of v6. 1997-2000 and the 2000 on. the earlier engine produces 194 bhp and isnt multiplexed so you can get it running on the standard ecu in the 205.

the later 211bhp motor is a completely different kettle of fish. as its multiplexed it takes different signals of a host of other systems on the car so you wont get it running on the standard management in a 205.

pug1off do this conversion with the later engine using a emerald ecu into a 205, it apparently produces around 250 bhp..

earlier lumps are as little as 150 quid while the later units are around 500.
