leitoo 0 Posted November 1, 2007 Hello everyone, Yesterday I changed my oil pressure sender. The previous one was faulty (needle jumped up and down and sat almost all the way down on the marker but the stop light never came on). The engine has been recently rebuild and a new oil pump fitted so no problems there. Still I'm getting some strange readings out of it now... The sender I got is made in Spain, FAE brand. Cold start the needle goes all the way to the last mark, and at operating temp it sits just above 2 (second mark) but when revved up to 4000rpm it goes to 3/4, or the previous to last mark, or 6 (if there are numbers in your dash!) What should be the normal readings and how many marks should the needle climb when revved from say idle to 4000-4500rpm? Could there be something wrong in the installing of the new sender causing this? Thank you!
Anthony 1,003 Posted November 1, 2007 Doesn't sound too unreasonable to me. I tend not to worry too much about the actual figures anyway as the gauge/sender isn't calibrated and hence you can get variations in readings - so long as it reads atleast halfway (4 bar) at 4000rpm and the STOP light isn't on at idle, that's fine. pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted November 1, 2007 Doesn't sound to be anything wrong with those indications to me either. In fact if its a standard spring its got very healthy oil pressure at all times. Graham.
