Ast Coilovers And Neg Camber Hubs...whats A Set Worth?

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of selling the set of AST Coilovers i have but i haven't got a clue what they are worth or how popular they are.

They came on the 309 race car i bought of Miles and have since had the fronts rebuilt at the factory as one had a couple of small problems, so all new seals, shafts, adjusters and pistons in the pair of them! Cost me a fortune!

The rears have also been checked and Dynoed.

They have alloy, platforms, top caps etc with 350lb main springs and helper springs.

I will be selling them with a set of hubs which have been machined to run with neg camber and the struts are slightly machined to suit. The hubs have good bearings and Studs.

So what is that lot worth? I'd like to use the money raised from the sale to buy soem more rally orientated suspension, as the AST are much more suited to race and track day use. I might even go for the new AST 3 Way adj rally suspension.

I'm doing a rally at rockingham in dec so i might use the AST's there and see how they go.

This is a genuine question...not a for sale advert....i genuinely don't know what they would fetch or what reserve i should put on ebay to make sure i don't sell them too cheap.

I guess nobody can help then

They also have GPN rubber topmounts too.

These are Nickel plated ones rather than cheap painted ones which will chip off and get rusty.

I've found a post for a set of AST on thir own for £600.....so should i ask £700 as these come with the neg Camber hubs with studs?

As said's it's always hard to price something when you never really see them up for sale S/H, I would say £700.00 is about right with all the bit's including the hub's

not really sure what the problem is? a set of bilstein coilovers arent going to be much less than the AST's and if the AST's are capable of being rebuild then why not get some softer inserts and softer springs if you think theyre too hard for rally use....

The AST's have a shorter piston rod than Tamac Billies would have so i couln't get the ride height i'd want for rougher tarmac rallies and for events in Ireland they wouln't have enough travel for the big jumps.

They are not an inverted design, whilst this is fine for the track, the extra strength from an inverted damper design may well be required on rallies.
