mbayley77 0 Posted October 29, 2007 I have a 95 impreza STI with a strange problem that I have no idea how to solve. The brake warning light is on (the same one as when you pull the handbrake on) when I start the car when the temperature is cold. When its a warmer day the light doesnt come on??? So when its colder (not like freezing maybe just like 10 degrees C or less) I start the car and the light stays on. I drive to work about 15 miles and usually just when I get close the light goes out! If i apply the handbrake the light doesnt stay on again so thinking its not a sticky switch. If i turn the car off and start agin the light stays off - it just totally seems linked with the temp outside. I have checked the pads and the fluid level and nothing there. Someone please help as its driving me nuts - more because its totally weird. Oh and the brakes work fine. Any help so greatly appreciated.
welshpug 1,657 Posted October 29, 2007 try disconnecting the fluid level sensor, and if that doesn't work try disconnecting the handbrake warning switch.
Anton green 12 1 Cars Posted October 31, 2007 (edited) Im not an expert on the ins and outs of impreza wiring but, what you describe almost sounds like the symptoms of having a temperature sensor cross circuited with the brake warning light. Perhaps one wire has chafed on another? Or just a dicky switch maybe? Edited October 31, 2007 by Anton green
205007 12 Posted November 1, 2007 does it have pad wear leads?
