To remove the fuel tank:

  1. Unplug the fuel pump and level sender from inside the car under the rear seats
  2. Drop/remove the exhaust
  3. Remove the exhaust heatshield and the rear beam strap (if still fitted)
  4. Remove the handbrake cables from one end and pull out of the way
  5. Undo the jubilee clip securing the filler to the tank in the drivers side rear wheel arch
  6. Undo the two 13mm nuts at the back of the tank next to the beam - I suggest alot of WD40 as they are often siezed!
  7. Lower the tank down, and undo the breather and fuel pipes

I've made a temporary get me home repair to a tank with a hole approximately 2 x 6mm using epoxy putty which held fine for a couple of weeks until I scrapped the car, but I'm not sure that I'd be happy with that as a long term fix

racing tanks are good, but can be expensive for a custom made one! best bet would prob be a universal one from rally design or somewhere, then making up some mounting brackets and putting it in the back, but this will also raise the centre of gravity of the car so could affect handleing.

I'm stripping my 205 at the min its still got its tank in, but could take it out and post it if your intrested, say £20-25 posted?

Cheers

Dave

il hold you to this mate cheers, but otherwise i went on rally designs http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/index...cPath=1578_1591

which one would you guys choose i mean surley a 2 gallon one will only see you 50-60 miles?

and as for the highering center of gravity anyone else had issuses with this and surley so would the back seats give same effect?

only my opinion.thanks
