mbayley77 0 Posted October 22, 2007 Well as title really. I have a GTI6 lump and want to get a new inlet cam but am thinking that I need to know what compression ratio I have so I can choose the correct stage of regrind etc. The engine is essentially standard although it has been fully rebuilt (a long time a go now!!!) If my memory serves me correctly I think I got 220 PSI across all 4 cylinders when I done a compression test. Anyone help? Thanks
Richie-Van-GTi 71 2 Cars Posted October 22, 2007 standard CR is 10.4:1 Did the rebuild include a skim as that may give a very slight increase but nothing spectacular if it was just a basic 'reface' skim. 220 across the board is nice and healthy, was that on a stone cold engine just cranking with wide open throttle? mbayley77 0 Posted October 22, 2007 Yeah it was. Running twin 45's and am sure it was cranked with the throttles open.
