Edp 67 3 Cars Posted October 22, 2007 (edited) If you go onto the 306 GTi6 website and do a search for cambelt there is a really good guide to changing the earlier belt (136 tooth) I think they all recommend using a 137 tooth belt. Miles 331 1 Cars Posted October 22, 2007 Nothing wrong with the old 136 tooth belt and very easy to change, Don;t forget the Pump and Tensionor's at the same time, just don;t set the engine up using the lower pulley thou as these slip and will give you a false reading and bent valves if started without winding the engine over by hand first, If you;ve got a old 8v pullet kicking around this does the seting up just fine
kyepan 291 Posted October 23, 2007 just don;t set the engine up using the lower pulley thou as these slip Hi miles, bit confused do you mean lower tensioner? as in don't tension the belt mostly on one tensioner, and not the other higher one. or do you mean crank pully? confused
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted October 23, 2007 Set the timing up and the hole in the lower drive pulley (For the alt etc) as this slips and rarely stays in the same place unless you buy a brand new one
