Fuel Injection: What And Where?

Recommended Posts

Guest gt6jim

I've a 205 1.6 GTi, with what I assume to be a XU5JA engine.

Should this have L-Jetronic OR Motronic injection?

It has 4 x injectors on the fuel rail, and I thought motronic was single point.

But I don't know much about it tbh

Where do you guys get your FI parts from?

Most cars are LE2-Jetronic, only a VERYfew late CAT equipped cars are Motronic (oh and both are multi-point).

Generally we don't fiddle with it as it doesn't need much. Re-furbed injectors, ECU temp sensors and AFMs are all that generally need attention.

Are both 1.6 and 1.9(pre-cat) running identical versions of L-jetronic?

Do they have the same injectors?

They use the same basic jetronic system but the chip inside is using a different map with changed injector duration & various other settings.

The injectors are different on the 1.6 & 1.9 engines. Blue on 1.6 & yellow on the 1.9.

Graham.

ECU, Air Flow meter and injectors are different but all basically the system. As Graham says a different "map" although LE_Jetronic isn't a digital system so doesn't have a map as such.
