brumster 135 1 Cars Posted October 17, 2007 It is very good. I read it some years ago (in some form or another) and it backs up what I'd been told by many people. Unfortunately the K has got tallied with a bad reputation which will stick now

James_m 0 Posted October 17, 2007 Very intresting read, thanks for sharing. Shows how time consuming it is to build an engine properly i guess. Shame we never had this kind of intrest or information on the XU's
kyepan 291 Posted October 17, 2007 Was particularly tickled by the Lotus Exige cranks being unfit for use in a factory rover engine because the balancing machine used was not accurate enough... by a factor of 10. The after market ones were even worse.. he also dropped some names in the article for balancing, plasma toughing, ceramic coating etc. Based on the fact that he said one of the heat treatments caused warping of the crank, i wonder how he would feel about the cryogenic treatments being used at the moment.
