skeggyrik 3 Posted October 16, 2007 How long does the cross hatching effect seen on new and freshly honed liners last in the bores? I ask as on removing the head on my Mi it is clearly visible all the way around the bores.
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted October 16, 2007 I've stripped engines of unknown history with 140k on & they've still had the cross hatching visable. Graham.

kyepan 291 Posted October 17, 2007 wouldn't you expect that the thust faces should be worn?
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted October 17, 2007 Good question, Depends on many thing's, Like Graham I;ve found engine's which have been abused to hell and back and have found the liner's fine with the cross hatching still very much visable, But other's which do more town work seem to suffer more. So saying a milage is pretty hard, so around 170k plus
