Ethos 0 Posted October 14, 2007 Hi guys, I know this is a common problem with the 205 gtis but was just wondering if there's anything cheap to help it? When cold the revs are pretty low and sometimes the engine will stall, also if you flick the lights on it drops the revs down a further 100-200. Once warm it's smooth at just under 900 and doesn't stall. I think Steve and I might looking into the moving the timing belt a notch next weekend, would this effect idle?! It's not a big problem, but with winter closely approaching I want to make sure my girlriend doesnt have any problems as it's her daily drive. Thanks. pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted October 14, 2007 Give the whole of the intake including the throttle body, AFM, SAD & all breather hoses a thorough cleaning with some carb or brake cleaner & check them for condition. Even take the throttle body off to clean both sides of the throttle plate, remove the idle speed adjusting screw & use some cotton buds to clean the bypass in the throttle body. Whilst this screw is out, clean that until it shines. Once ts all back together get the car hot so the cooling fan has cut in & if necessary adjustteh idle speed to aropund 1000rpm instead of 900rpm to help things out. Graham.
