Sorry guys, vids got a bit screwed, I took them down for fear we didn't have permission to put them up, but that's been given the OK now so have re-loaded them - but all the links are buggered up.

Love it :D

I can see why you enjoy those stages so much. Those faster sections had me scared s*itless just watching it! I can't imagine going that fast along sections like that in a 205, but that's cos I'm only used to a 'normal' road 205. But watching your arms going constantly, making corrections all the way to keep it in a straight line, I can see it's still challenging :D

I see what you mean about the pressure dropping under braking and on slow corners. Does your gauge have a recall function or were you just glancing at it when it flashed to see what value it was dropping to?

You're probably referring to the concrete bit, the handling circuit? It's hard to tell from the video but it's a real dodgy surface (on purpose of course; MIRA is a test track), off-camber, rutted, etc.

Yeah, it's got one of those recall jobbies on it.

Yes. In particular, the section where you go over the 'flyover', then as you come down there is a sweeping right section with some rutted patches.

Ah, the rail tracks after the "roller coaster" (well, that's what I call it B) ). Yes, you get a bit of air over that but with Proflex on the back it's nothing to worry about :D

Mind you, kudos to Richie (chownr) for this "on approach for landing; runway 1A" :D

Dan

Thanks for posting that pic think Ill have to get a copy from Stuart. Really love the handling circuit especially the off cambers in the middle> Had a really good day Stage 5 when the shower caught us out. Car isnt too bad now Ive looked in more detail. has bent the subframe slightly and the wishbone but hasnt touched the front leg. Probably miss Millbrook and be back out for Rally of the Midlands.

Glad your hard work has paid off and lok forward to resuming battle later in the year.

Rich

Chasing being the operative word. every time we make a stepo closer he takes another one forward. Now with a fresh Longman engine and later with a sequential gearbox. If Dan goes the same way then I dont stand a chance!!

Anyway its up to you this weekend. have agood event at Twyford and keep it out o fth etrees. I heard at the weekend that theyve been round with a planer to remove the worst of the rough stuff.

let us know how you get on

Rich

Gawd tell me about it. His new motor was dyno'd at Longman and it's bleedin' daft what he's getting out of an 8v (but he's on 100 octane fuel, fwiw). The annoying thing is, even with 180-190 horses under my hood, it's becoming increasingly evident that I need to develop my skills now rather than throwing money at the car! Next thing must be left foot braking - there were a few cases at MIRA where I could see it would really have helped me round a constant-radius bend where I wanted to get on the power but keep the back tucked in. I shouldn't worry Rich; that sequential box is a good 12 months away judging by my bank account

L8rs,

Dan

Oil surge? Well, I was running too thin an oil at 0W-40 but it was nowhere near as bad as some people make out. It never went to *zero* but just dropped below the 25psi trigger point on my SPA digital gauge at hard braking/low engine speeds, or very tight nadgery left/right switchbacks... but on big long sustained corners, on X12 CR311 Dunlops, on sticky MIRA tarmac, the pressure didn't faulter once. So it's obviously only low-speed stuff I need to keep an eye on.

I never see less than 25psi, except in the pits at idle when hot. I'm happy to offer a money back guarantee that you never will too, if you run one of my setups with 15W-50 or 10W-60 oil.

I'll change my oil first and I suspect I'll be fine; thanks for the offer though :P
