davemar 16 Posted October 8, 2007 I woke up this morning to find a puddle of coolant under the car (well I spotted it after driving a mile or so before seeing the temperature soar with no heating in the car). So this evening I tried to hunt down the leak, but with no success. I refilled her up with water and undid the bleed screws to let out any air locks. But all the water stayed in, not a drop coming from anywhere! So I decided to run the engine a bit to see if anything started leaking, but nothing did. But one did stand out when standing over the engine, was how bad it sounded. I know my exhaust manifold has been blowing a bit, but this sounded like something else. When the revs were low (<1500rpm) it sounded very 'heavy' and not even. The idle was lower and lumpier than it had been. OK, it might not firing cleanly on all cylinders which may explain the lumpiness (though it revs OK), but the sound was quite disturbing. I ought to record it, as it's difficult to explain here. Can the two things be linked? Was the coolant leak due to too much pressure in the system for some reason? Could that reason be causing the rough running and nasty sound? ORB 227 1 Cars Posted October 8, 2007 Sounds like a H/G problem. Easy fixed though!
davemar 16 Posted October 8, 2007 Sounds like a H/G problem. Easy fixed though! That's what I was fearing; though I do have a spare HG knocking around somewhere. I'm trying to move house now, so that's all I need at the moment!
