Alan_M 66 1 Cars Posted October 8, 2007 I'm planning on getting my shell re-jigged, and afterwards would like to modify the existing SD 6 point cage to accept a rear harness bar on the removable diagonal, and maybe some fillets/mounts on a few places to make it that bit more stiffer. Has anybody got any experience in this, or am I better off trying to replace it with a 'Challenge' spec SD cage although I am concerned that as the shell already has mounts fitted, this will become a pain in the arse? Can anyone tell me where the Challenge cage mounts in the car, exactly? Help?
boldy205 75 Posted October 8, 2007 the extra 4 points are the the top of the A pillar and top of B pillar. I presume the other 6 points are the same. Not sure about the rest of the questions, sorrry.
Baz 421 Posted October 8, 2007 The SD C44 bolt-in challenge spec cage picks up on the front rear beam mounts, has a brace between them, double cross bar and harness bars as you say, optional doube door cross bars, the weld-in one also has a link from the B-posts to the exhaust tunnel. The front legs are closer to the A-posts too i believe. I would've thought your existing foot-plates would be about right, although obviously the rear stay plates would become redundant.
