Help Needed With Throttle Boddie On Mi16

Recommended Posts

Longun

I've been having idle problems since getting the car however today it got bad. The throttle stuck fully open on me managed to turn the engine off and pull over although not before the thing had got to dangerous speeds in no time.

A nut has come off (see pics) and this stopped the lower butterfly from opening and closing properly but today it stuck open and locked like that. I removed what was left of the link arm and drove it home fine. However I have no clue how it all is suppose to go together so can someone please help. See below pics :D

Also should the micro switch activate when the throttle just opens? I can hear the click of a switch as soon as I move the throttle.

Thanks

Managed to reassemble this in what I can only assume is the correct way.

My idle is still high so I've also cleaned the ICV, checked there are no air leaks, checked there was no play in the tb but both butterflies open smooth and neither have any play in them, can someone please confirm the SAD device has a small pipe coming from the inlet manifold to the underside of it as if that’s the right item I've also tried closing the pipe and this made no difference either and last but not least I also used carb cleaner on the whole lot whist it was apart. Now I'm wondering which order should I start replacing things? I was thinking Airflow meter first then ICV then Throttle position switch (which I can hear activate) but if there is anything else I should do first please let me know.

Just a bit of extra info if I remove the ICV the revs jump about a lot then when I plug it in they sky rocket then settle back down but still high. Also if I unplug the airflow sensor the revs drop and it gets very close to stalling.

There are a lot of threads on this subject but I'm after the best direction to head with this or the first thing I should try and swap. I'd rather try and get it right first go as I'm short on money after buying the car :D

Thanks in advance

edited to add the MPG seems really bad too. I'm only getting about 230 miles to a full tank atho as its a new car my right foot might be a bit heaver than normal :D

Might not be related to TB then.

But hey what's that plugged up on the bottom of it there? You sure that's an Mi16 TB? All that I've seen never had that.

I can only assume its a Mi tb. Could the ignition cause idle problems as well as I've not checked the cap arm or anything.

Here are a couple of other angles.

Anyone know where on the block I can find the engine number so I can figure out which Mi engine its got?

Ahh it probably is Mi, it's just all the Mi TBs I've ever seen don't have that bit on the bottom. That bit sticking out that you've covered over. Measure the diameter of the hole at the back and I'll measure mine. Actually should I rephrase that, sounds a bit gay!

Look for "D6C" down between engine and mount over on the left hand of the engine.

Don't get me started on ignitions and idlings, got my own problems but yes everything affects idle.
