ORB 227 1 Cars Posted September 29, 2007 you know the thing i mean, the thingy that bolts on the cam on the derv engines to generate a vacume to assist the brakes? would this fit onto the exhaust cam on an mi16? ? ? ? ? carb conversion thoughts
Pug_101 0 Posted September 29, 2007 Not sure on the Mi16, but my S16 had one fitted (ZX 2.0L)
Ryan 99 Posted September 29, 2007 I don't think I'll bolt straight on. Some 405 diesels have a belt driven pump on top of the gearbox which could be driven from the PAS pulley on the mi16 cam.
welshpug 1,655 Posted September 29, 2007 use the one off the S16/ZX16v, 405 never had one, but its the same engine. you'd need to check the bolt patterns on both to be certain itll fit, or cross ref some part numbers....
jim21070 2 Posted September 29, 2007 (edited) Nice thought to use a vacuum pump for the servo when doing a carb conversion. I'm sure it could be made to work from the end of the cam with an adaptor of some sort but be aware they need an oil supply. On the TD head, the oil is supplied from the same gallery as feeds the cam bearings so it is under pressure. The belt-driven pumps have their own little sump for lubrication. Hilgie 16 2 Cars Posted September 30, 2007 Better to create a take-off on the inlet manifold for the servo.
