Bosal, Pugsport Grpn Centre And Bb

Recommended Posts

I've got the above system, all brand new and it's noisy as fcuk. The original intention was to remove the chavbox from it and replace with standard looking backbox, so I bought the grpn backbox from pugsport. It turned out I needed their centre section too, which in the end turned out I needed a new fecking downpipe, so I replaced the whole lot - and it's as noisy now as it was then, just looks much better.

Not sure what todo next, maybe swap the backbox for proper standard? Or is it the centre section which is doing the damage?

When I first put my black Gti on the road I had an arvin front pipe with pugsport intemediate & backbox which was noisey at first but after I'd done about 500 miles it seemed to quieten down considerably & was fine for use even on long motorway runs at a constant 4k.

I took it off when I got bored of having to drive very sedately during the early (pre-dawn) hours after finishing a night shift when I'd used the it to drive to & from work. (two years + later)

I fitted an Arvin front pipe & centre silencer from a phase 2 car with a TD backbox & I much prefer it now. Feels to drive better as well thanks to the addition of the centre box for a small boost in torque. Weirdest things with this set up was when noise tested at Cadwell for a trackday, it was noiser than the Magnex backbox fitted to Anthony's car. B) (92dB @ 5k)

Graham.

I was told that it may well quiten down after a few miles, so I guess I'll have to get out driving it and hope it settles down.

Cheers

I think general rule of thumb is that when the inside of your exhaust system gets coated with carbon [?] - the black stuff - then it'll quieten down.
