Theo205 0 Posted September 19, 2007 Some time ago I had ordered form brakesint a refurb kit for an extra pair of girling calipers I had lying in the garage. The past two days I was off work so I decided to put some time into them since it was the only ingredient missing . I disassembled the calipers completely and dipped them into diesel for some time. After that i had them wirebrished cearfully to remove dirt and rust. They were cleaned with break cleaner and had several coats of red heat resistant paint. I inspected and polished the piston surface and bore area. Thankfully there were no signs of wear. New studpins were installed an greased up with fresh hi-temp grease. After that all parts were put together along with new ring seals , boots and a set of EBC brakes. Heres the result: http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/Theo...NY1438Large.jpg http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/Theo...NY1439Large.jpg Now I know its a bit stupid to go and spend refurb money on standard brakes when I could just refurb a bigger set of brakes but I like GTI parts standard.
