Dkz Engine

Recommended Posts

Gavin Waddell

ive got myself a dkz engine for free, and well was wondering what could be done to make it go faster. Unfortunatly swiss law denies me to go the mi route so im going to fit the 1.9.

Now i know that it is the one with the lower comp ratio and it also runs the 1.3 monotronic ecu. Now i didnt get the ecu nor the loom for the engine which is a pain, so i was going to run it using a normal 1.9 ecu and loom if this is possible. the other big thing is the cylinderhead i was going to put my 1.6 head from b6d engine so that i can up the CR, now could i retain the DKZ cam or would i need th change it because i am not running the standard ecu.

i basically want to work out what would needed to be done so that i canget cracking on during tje winter

cheers

You can run it with the normal ECU, just be sure to swap the ignition over as well and discard the DKZ ignition. Other than the lower compression and a slightly milder cam the DKZ is not much different from a D6B (130bhp) engine. It should deliver similar power when running Jetronic ECU and ignition.

Hilgie,

For the compression ratio i was going to fit my cylinder head from my 1.6 which has only had a slight skim so i hope this will up the comprasion bit, iam assumong that nothing will touch?

Thanks

Gavin
