Get on ebay and find the purple 405 manual from about 1992, it's much better than that crap blue newer 405 manual that tries to cover to many engines and anything more complicated than checking the oil level and they say "We can't be arsed to describe this proceedure therefore we suggest this job is encrusted to a Peugeot dealer".
