Guest WestmidzJD Posted September 16, 2007 (edited) Ok where do i start with my 205, someone has done an engine conversion previously and the wiring is .....lets say.......pathetic? first of all ]Instrument clocks, only the oil temp and pressure works, everything else is dead, including backlight??? Some help here would be nice Steering stupidly heavy, i mean im breaking a sweat to park its that bad, only thing i could think is its been lowered 40mm+ and has 195/45/15 tyres??? My rear beam has been lowered and has konis on, its that loud and bumpy its starting to annoy me, would fitting...lets say 195/55/tyres help the situation(as apposed to 195/45??, also it is that stiff it "skips" around on really tight corners and creaks and bangs like mad!!! ,seized????? last but not least i have a really strong fuel smell on idle, seems to be strongest near injectors(altho this could be the manifold as they are so close) Any help on any of these subjects will be much appreciated (i have searched posts, maybe i havnt looked hard enough but im sure you will help me out) Edited September 16, 2007 by WestmidzJD

Sounds like your rear beam is dead, budget quite a lot for a recon one. last but not least i have a really strong fuel smell on idle, seems to be strongest near injectors(altho this could be the manifold as they are so close) What sort of condition are the fuel hoses in? Are they tightly fitted to the fuel rail? Can you tell us more about the type of engine conversion thats been done?
nick 3 Posted September 17, 2007 With regards to the heavy steering, how old are the top mounts? I have just had mine apart and regreased the bearing and it no feels like it has power steering. I didn't think it was overly heavy before, but it is just really nice to use now at low speed. Nick

I will try adjusting the dial, btw i am no small lad but the steering takes the piss, i have driven other none p/a/s 205 gti's before and they feel really light even when parking, the fuel hoses are the metal braided type, i have heard these can cause a strong smell because of the way they are made? is this true? the engine is just a 1.9 conversion,
