Guest A11YKF Posted September 10, 2007 Local garage informed me that i require a new o/s/f stub axle as it is knackered where the wishbone goes into it, but after looking around at various parts it looks to me more like the part i am looking for is called the hub carrier would this be correct? also is the one for the 1.6 Gti the same as the one on the 1.9 Gti? Any help appreciated. Ally. If my questions are answered and anyone has a spare one in good condition give me a shout please.
sonofsam 5 Posted September 10, 2007 (edited) If, as you say it's the part the wishbone goes in, then it's known as a hub carrier yes. Into that goes your wheel bearings, then into the bearings go the hub or sometimes referred to as a stub axle, wich the driveshaft spline end goes into and your wheel bolts to. Im suspecting you have an ovalised hole then, in wich the wishbone ball joint pivot point sits? 1.9 and 1.6 hub carriers are different I beleive.
