Couple Of Easy Gti6 Conv Questions

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Have got my gti6 engine into the 205, fits pretty well!! I have plumbed most of it in (including PAS) but there are a couple of things I need help with.

* Can I get rid of the (emissions related??) black box that sits in the 306 drivers wing and pipework connecting it to the inlet manifold by the throttle body? Presuming the answer is yes I presume I can block the hole left in the inlet manifold, but what abbout the brown plug to the loom? Do I leave this unplugged or leave the 'brown thingybob' in the car with a short peice of the in and out tube connected and blocked and leave the brown plug plugged in?

* I scoured by local halfords yesterday for a suitable air filter. There was a universal one that looked ok but there were none with suitable airpipes with a take off for the stepper motor (ICV) pipe. What have people done about this? Any kit numbers which work? I want to avoid a seperate 'mini filter' (its a bit of a bodge isnt it?) on the ICV pipe.

*I am modding the 205 exhaust but its old and knackered (but ok to practice getting the setup right and to get the car moving around) its under 2 inches in diameter and of the 3 peice design. Its branded walker and has no split in the down pipe. When I am ready for a new exhaust I guess I need one witout split in the downpipe as the Gti6 engine\manifold isnt tuned for this? Anyone know what manufacturers use a reasonable bore size and no split down pipe? Reading this forum 2.25 inches is the recommended and is this all the way through?

Pics and stuff to follow but am in the process of upgrading PC so cant get them atm.

Cheers

Chris

I blocked the pipe off at the throttle body on mine, its what alastair did with his and has no probs

I'm using the original gti6 air filter pipe with a k&n stuck on the end

As Turbosam siad, use the gti 6 intake hose and then put a filter on the end of that, the icv then pipes up onto that,as for the downpipe I used the original 6 downpipe and cut the cat out and then joined another pipe onto the rear of that and mated it to the rest of the system,You could use a de-cat pipe there are many aftermarket manufacturers that produce them and this will make a really neat job of it.

Good luck

Tristan

Yeah. i also just used a standard 205 GTI down pipe without the split and just done some measuring and cut and welded it to fit.

All about trial and error
