Steer By Throttle

Recommended Posts

My 205 had it's tracking set today and feels a lot better. Was -5 degrees both sides when it should be +2.

However I now have a very strange sensation going on at all speeds. If you accelerate the car pulls gently to the curb, the harder you accelerate the harder it pulls. If you let off it comes back to the right :blink

if you let go of the wheel and the throttle it rolls in a straight line. Which kind of rules out incorrect tracking.

The fella at the garage felt it initially and suggested a driveshaft? don't understand why that would cause such behaviour?

All I can come up with is perhaps it's something to do with me having a new wheel bearing one side and an old one the other??

Wishbone bushes/balljoints probably, you'll need to get the tracking set again after you change them as it will have moved.

There is a Peugeot part number that gets you all four bushes and the nuts and bolts for about £10-15, do a search and you'll find it. Otherwise they sell you all the parts separately and it adds up to loads more.

I would check to see if the wisbone balljoint is shot myself also, otherwise there is no point putting new bushes in a wishbone that has a shot balljoint

Yeah at peugeot the bushes are about 7 quid each, where as the whole kit including four bushes and four bolts/nuts and washers is £18 ish

Thanks for the headsup

The arms look pretty old so I guess replacing the lot can't hurt

Its worth noting that pattern wishbones come with bushes that last for about a week so you should change them for genuine ones.
