Mi16 Conversion Advice.....

OK

So, I rebuilt my MI before dropping it in the car.

Now, since all I had was an MI16 head and bottom end, I thought I would re-build it. So I set off to work with that.

I decided to drop it into the car, on a 1.6 box.

My plan was to build a manifold and fit some R1 carburettors, I have now done both of these.

Before I get around to putting on the Carbs on the engine, I at least want to see if the engine will run, but the injection spec I have plumbed in, does not fill me with enthusiasm.

Here is a rundown.

405 Mi16 Alloy block and head

MI16 inlet and Re-Angled manifold

Mi16 Throttle body

MI16 TPS

MI16 Fuel rail

1.6 GTI air flow meter

GTi Dizzy/cap/rotor (not sure if it is from a 1.9 or a 1.6)(not sure what to look for in the numbers)

Dizzy adaptor (awaiting in the post) (hope its here this weekend as sunday is the next chance I will get to have a play)

1.9 injectors

1.6 brain

no SAD

1.6 Fuel pump/filter

As you will have gathered, it is on a 1.6 loom as I have seen no need to change as I only want it on carbs.

Will this fire enough so that I can run it, all i want to do is get it to fire up, so that I know that it runs, and that it does not knock its tits off!

Then, within an hour of having it running, I will start to convert it to the R1 carbs

I do have a load more parts, if they would actually help the job.I know I have loads of Dizzy's (1.6 and 1.9 but cant ID between the two) Blue, red, orange and black injectors, 1.9 AFM (i think) various different TPS switches (1.6/1.9/405SRi) and a few sad valves.

Any input would help!

yes that should run, but the fueling will be out, its best to use 1.9 injectors with a 1.9 afm and vice versa.

you don't mention the ignition amp but either 1.6, 1.9 or 16v should be fine.

Thanks matey, yeah, its running the 1.6 amp

How do I tell the difference between the 1.9 and 1.6 afm's?

Baz

Code on the black cap of the AFM, ending in '109' for a 1.9, and '056' for a 1.6 item. (IIRC)

Hmm, are you sure that this is correct?

My H reg 1.6 Sorrento came with a screw on cap as did my 1.6 G reg Miami
