quagmire 0 Posted September 3, 2007 (edited) The small hose that goes from the vaccum advance tothe throttle body seems to be fubard. It snapped the other day when I was cleaning the throttle housing, i tried to cut it and put it back on but it just keeps splitting. Is this rubber pipe something I can pick up at any motor factors or have I got to f*** about with the peugeot dealers? Ryan 99 Posted September 3, 2007 Ordinary rubber pipe will be fine. I used window washer pipe, which was about £2 a meter from a motor factors.
quagmire 0 Posted September 3, 2007 (edited) Cheers, another question how do I tell if the vaccum advance is nackered? I tried sucking on the pipe there is some resistance but not much does this mean its broken? Edited September 3, 2007 by quagmire
boldy205 75 Posted September 3, 2007 should be able to suck the hose and this will make a vacuum, you should be able to hold your tounge over the end and feel it. Matt.

boldy205 75 Posted September 3, 2007 ok, hold a straw/length of tube. put a finger over one end and suck the other end with your mouth. you have now created a vaccum in the pipe. If you have a working vac advance you will be able to do the same thing. Get it?

quagmire 0 Posted September 4, 2007 Tried the suck test and results are...broken. Tried talking to some idiot at peugeot but I might as well be talking to the dial tone. Does anyone know what the part number is for the unit?
boldy205 75 Posted September 4, 2007 not sure if you can still get them from pug. Try D.T.M. (try a search) they are in Bristol, i think mine was about £15 for a bosch unit. If not then your local fuel injection specialist. Should be able to help. What did you ask the bloke at pugs for exactly? should understand what a vac advance unit is!!!!! (then again!!!)
