driversdomainuk 8 Posted September 2, 2007 Hi I have decided on a set of Bilstein coil overs with 350 lb springs. I am wanting a pair of eccentric top mounts. I have seen these on Rally Design http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=907_909 Has anyone got experiences of using this setup with coil overs? Also, have not done this before, will I need any additional bits to complete the job? Thanks
Jrod 7 Posted September 2, 2007 I'm not sure if those prices include VAT but if not I think compbrake will be cheaper. Make sure you have long top inserts otherwise they won't fit. You also need different spring pans.
Normski 1 Posted September 14, 2007 Where can you get the spring top pans for these top mounts?
Normski 1 Posted September 18, 2007 Ok thanks. Also, what is the rough range of settings that can be achieved with these? (for both the -ve camber and the castor, I know changing one affects the other with this type of mount. ).
Jrod 7 Posted September 18, 2007 I had mine set roughly in the middle and it was just over 1 degree of neg so you could probably get about 2 at full camber. Can't remember what the castor was at though.
philfingers 5 Posted September 19, 2007 I ran eccentric top mounts on my 309 road rally car, very good. No problem with shafts popping out ect. Got a sensible castor and camber. I have actually just put the PTS legs on Ebay, but I'm keeping the eccentric mounts. No idea which ones mine are though!
tom_m 0 Posted September 19, 2007 TBH i i'd go with compbrake over rally design.
pee vee 1 Posted November 4, 2007 Can these adjustable top mounts be used with conventional shocks? or has it GOT to be coil overs?? If so, why?? thanks!
Jrod 7 Posted November 4, 2007 (edited) Got to be coilovers. The spring on standard is to large and will hit the inner wing and the top threaded part won't be long enough. Edited November 4, 2007 by Jrod
Sandy 191 Posted November 4, 2007 Unless you use sleeve nuts. I'm using eccentric mounts with standard sized springs on mine.
Jrod 7 Posted November 4, 2007 You can't set negative camber though can you?

You may have to open out the holes on your car for the bolts to fit thru too.
Sandy 191 Posted November 4, 2007 You can't set negative camber though can you? Yes, up to about 1 degree. Even more if you put 309 arms on the 205.
pee vee 1 Posted November 4, 2007 oh right, where can you get sleeve nuts ?? i was looking at the Spoox motorsport top mounts, are they any good? thanks!
Sandy 191 Posted November 4, 2007 Rally Design sell them I think, I had mine made.
pee vee 1 Posted November 4, 2007 what is it the Sleeve nut actually does?? is it because the shaft of the shock is smaller diameter than the same point on the coilovers??? Thanks for the info guys!
veloce200 3 Posted November 4, 2007 what is it the Sleeve nut actually does?? is it because the shaft of the shock is smaller diameter than the same point on the coilovers??? Thanks for the info guys! the rally design ones don't come with correct spacers to fit most coilovers and you do need to grind the holes. basically whatever you save in ££ you get back in grief. I have them on my car and they took ages to get them adapted to fit had to get local engineers to turn the spacers and also modify the holes as the PCD isn't correct. I've since used some made by a firm called MOtorsport Engineering Development for £164 inc vat and these fit easily - no machining to fit.
309PUG 2 1 Cars Posted November 4, 2007 what is it the Sleeve nut actually does?? is it because the shaft of the shock is smaller diameter than the same point on the coilovers??? Thanks for the info guys! The sleeved nuts pick up on the top of the shock absorber and are a snug fit in the rose joint in the eccentric top mounts.
