Recommended Posts

Hi all,I have a 2.0 ltr RGY engine with a knackered bottom end,and my mate has a good DKZ? (122 bhp 1.9gti cat engine) bottom end, will the RGY head fit and will I need to mod anything else to run it in turbo charged form (at around 1 Bar) ?.

Cheers

Are you going to be using the 2.0T management? I guess people use the xu10 head on xu9's as an upgrade, so it must fit.

You'd have to think about CR though and an oil feed/return for the turbo and knock sensor. Are you sure running 1bar through

a standard alloy block is a good idea though?!

Isnt there any info on here about Henry yorkes 1.9t car? Im not sure how his cars built (i recall sonosam calling it a hybrid) but, i know he's using MP3.2 management. As for the rest of it ????? sorry. I have read on a few posts about folks fitting a xu10 head to xu9's. Wouldnt you need better/stonger intenals on your bottom end though? i'd just buy a complete 2.0t lump. But im not a brave person.

Dont want to kill his spare bottom end tho !

Yep and yep!

1.9 DFZ 105 bhp engine with 406 "stuff" to go with the management.

Runs 0.5 bar - 164bhp / 200lb/ft torque which does me nicely for a fast road cruiser!

My low compression is in the cylinder head of the DFZ engine. If I put a GTI head on it, it would be pretty much like a DKZ engine. The DKZ engine has lower comp than a D6B (standard 1.9) and I believe this is down to the pistons being dished more in the DKZ.

The RGY has its low comp in its bottom end I believe (in its pistons too). Not sure on the chamber size in the head on the RGY. This will govern the compression ratio. On the DFZ, the piston has a small dish (9cc) and the chamber volume is quite large at 49cc. The pistons sit only 0.001" down the bore.
