chris 417 mi 34 2 Cars Posted August 30, 2007 Ok, my 205 has been back on the road for a few weeks now since its recent engine bay overhaul but its developed a strange liking to get hot rather quick. When i replaced everything in the bay i bought all new bbm hoses, alloy rad and even a brand new genuine 405 mi16 thermostat from pug, yet it seems to get to the 4th (11 o clock) bar on the gauge and continually move up (halfway to the 5th and back when sitting but stays 4th roughly when driving). Now the level in the reservoir used to allways be around 1 inch from the cap but now appears to be quite low, it was low at fcs when i got there so i topped it up but was low again when i got back (below the step piece on the phase 2 tanks ), oh and the fan speed appears to have decreased quite a lot !! Can anyone help as im getting quite worried
sonofsam 5 Posted August 30, 2007 Did you bleed the system after fitting all your new hose's? Could be an air lock. And did you put the full amount of coolant/water in? I had this fairly recently after fitting all new hoses to my turbo. The expansion tank would fill up to the brim, but I had to get the engine running then carry on filling till I had the full amount. I measured out 7 litres(think that is max. capacity) so I knew how much was left to go in to fill it right up.
chris 417 mi 34 2 Cars Posted September 3, 2007 Ive filled it up a few times now (although not with the engine runing ) and it still drops down. Definitely bled all the hoses off on the first startup, just hope its not something else
boldy205 75 Posted September 3, 2007 i presume you filled the header tank slowly, then ran the engine and toped up the coolant as it worked its way round the engine when you first filled the coolant system?
