eob 7 Posted August 29, 2007 I have my lovely Mi16 here in component parts and I'm very much looking forward to getting it back together, but I need a list of rebuild parts! Off the top of my head: - Main and shell bearings - Head gasket - Sump gasket - Rocker gasket - Tensioner - Belt - Stem Seals - Piston Rings Questions: 1. What am I missing? 2. Generally, where's the best place to get this stuff? Waiting on an email from a few suppliers with prices. Would like decent quality stuff. 3. Any particular brands to look out for? Have done a search with no luck so any and all help appreciated
pee vee 1 Posted August 29, 2007 (edited) Liner seals main crank seal strip seals sealant of some sort to put the sump on properly with lol buy a head-set as you get most of the gaskets you need then (manifolds and throttle body, cam seals etc. and all them crappy little o rings for the spray bar and cam cover) head bolts con rod bolts + nuts you need 2 tensioners water pump, oil pump still thinking. lol Edited August 29, 2007 by pee vee
matt-k 0 Posted August 29, 2007 I would'nt bother replacing the oil pump just replace the spring. You will need 2 sump gaskets because of the spacer plate. Conrod nuts and bolts should not need replacing either.
pee vee 1 Posted August 29, 2007 really i thought it was best to replace the rod bolts on any rebuild?
sorr 0 Posted August 29, 2007 I would just buy top and bottom gasket sets as then you will get everything you need without having to about what you need. Also get some decent RTV the sump spacer plate and no second gasket will be required for the sump. I used QEP for most of my bits as they also gave good advice about what bits to replace and what not to. You will also need a bore deglazer for the new rings. eob 7 Posted August 29, 2007 (edited) Bore deglazer? Please explain? Oh, and it's a two-row, all-alloy Mi16, which t-belt?? Edited August 29, 2007 by eob

Pug_Power_Dave 0 Posted August 29, 2007 (edited) Thought it was best to replace big end nuts to, as they streach when you put them on dont they? get some lock-tite on them aswell! hermitite is a gd instant gasket sealer, should be avaible from most car shops. but like the others said bottom and head gasket set should do the job. eob 7 Posted August 30, 2007 Just got off the phone to QEP! Had trouble raising them earlier in the week but he explained that they're normally very busy! Emailed and phoned everyone (inc. all the forum advertisers) and sent off emails to no avail, one phonecall to QEP and he quoted me all the prices over the phone and they're actually great prices, and good quality too. Gates kit for the T-belt etc. Delighted!
James_m 0 Posted August 30, 2007 Think, you've got everything listed by now. Dont forget the small gauze filter that goes in one of oil way's in the cylinder head. Might even come with a gasket set, but i would'nt know as i just bought all the seals seperatly. Definetly change the rod bolts. Someone's MI (kate205gti?) went bang from a snapped rod bolt, thats enough of a reason to change them IMO.
