Rear Beam Bearing Size

Recommended Posts

Hi

Is the inner and outer rear beam bearings on the 205 gti and the 306/ZX the same? And is the trailingarm insert in the beamtube of the same lengh?

I´m thinking about fitting the trailingarms of a 306/zx on my 205 1.9 gti rear beam!

Is that possible?

Thanks

/Martin

Yes, they are the same bearings as used on the 205.

Yes & its been done before, quite a few people on here (me included) are using the ZX rear arm's on the back of their 205. ZX arms are preferred as they have less toe in than the 205 ones where the 306 ones have more.

Have a read of these two topics for more info;

Thanks a lot Graham.

I´m racing my 205. I only use it for track racing.

What arms would you reccomend for track?

I have been offered a 306 GTI rear beam. Can I use that beam directly on the 205? The original 205 beam Is quite corroded and I think the tube beond saving. The inner right bearing is destroyed. I´m not able to take it off the beam as it seems to have become "one" with the tube!

I´m quite new to the 205!

Thanks in advance.

The 306 beam is a lot wider than the 205 beam and sticks out the rear arches, you can use any 205 beam tube from lower models that tend to be in better condition due to an easy life.

The zx arms are the preferred one's to use but I would think the 306 arms would be an upgrade as they have more negative camber than a 205 arm.

Thanks.

Would the 306 arms be better than the ZX arms. I think I can get the ZX arms too.

If you can get the 306 beam cheap then you might a well get that imo & use those radius arms but as you will be throwing most of it out because you can't use it on a 205, if you can find some disc ready ZX rear arms I'd get them & a replacement 205 centre tube.
