Spiky 37 Posted August 26, 2007 we i just took my 205 beam off to fit my 309 beam (as quote's from this forum say it's a straight swap) well the mounting points are different width on the 309 beam to the 205, so how can it be a direct fit?? or am i missing something here??? as the reab bolkts are about 1 inch wider and the front ones are about the same, maybe more
jackherer 543 Posted August 26, 2007 Turn the rubber mounting blocks 180 degrees and it goes straight on.
Spiky 37 Posted August 26, 2007 ok, after posting i realised the front one (with 2 bolts) as off set so turning them, is ok but i'm putting solid bbm mounts on here so ther rears aren't offset???
Spiky 37 Posted August 26, 2007 sorted now, as the solids are straight bolt fitment, it looks pretty much ok
Spiky 37 Posted August 26, 2007 actually NOT sortwed the rears dont fit but 10mm
jackherer 543 Posted August 26, 2007 With group a mounts you need to lever the beam across to match the holes on the car. With a 205 beam you need to bend outwards and a 309 beam you have to bend inwards. This is why Stew started selling the v.2 improved fit mounts that are more like the OE rubber bushes. Spiky 37 Posted August 26, 2007 yeah i'm half asleep today, done 3weeks on this car non stop, think it's getting to me...lol sorted now, cheers for advice
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted August 26, 2007 The newer style of BBM group A rear mounts should fit the same as the original ones with the offset studs but the block & bolt through ones do need the arm levering into place even on a 205 beam. Graham.
V8Pete 0 Posted August 27, 2007 I was just wondering when I did my swap - do any of you bother getting your wheel alignment/tracking checked after a beam swap? Is it necessary?
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted August 28, 2007 Nothing has changed at the front & the rear can't be adjusted so I left mine as it was before fitting. Graham.
