Cooling

Hi

The standard Pug cooling valve(don´t know if it´s the right term!) is open at 82 deg. C.

Does anyone know if a valve with lover opening temp is availible?

I want a cooler engine on my 205 track car.

Thanks

Martin

its called a thermostat. im pretty sure that 82 deg c is the coolest thermostat you can buy. its not coolant temp that will be running massively high, its more likely to be oil temperature when track driving.

If the car is only for track days, just remove the thermostat completely.

And yes, you can get thermostats with lower operating temps.

Drill a small hole in the thermostat and put it back in, should bring it down by 5 degrees or so. You dont want to run it too cool, its not good for the oil.

I´ve heard about drilling a hole before. It makes sense!

How big and only one hole?

i would leave it as it is, 1338 37 is the 82 degree thermostat.

the cooling system is sufficient for most applications if its functioning as intended.

AFAIK you can get a 75'c thermostat from Skip Brown Cars & they fit this to their conversions.
