Chris H 10 Posted August 20, 2007 I've used the o.e. KYB stuff on my scooby and was really happy with them for the price, also their uprated adjustable shocks get very good reports for scoobies too. kanyeost 0 Posted August 20, 2007 Yeah I just checked at another Peugeot place and they are 33 quid before VAT, 38 quid including for both 1.6 & 1.9. Incidentally whats the difference between 1.9 & 1.6 damper? 1.9 are presumably better but are they a straight swap with the 1.6 ones, (I am going to be using them on a hybrid beam (diesel cross member and trailing arms, GTI torsion bars & ARB)). welshpug 1,657 Posted August 20, 2007 the cross member is the same nowadays, there used to be a difference in the diameter of the centre section on earlier base models, but that doesnt affect compatability. I'd guess that damper rates would be different for 1.9 specific units, seeing as the 1.9 always "feels" more planted. I just remembered that van models use a 21mm T/B so the Dampers may be suitable after all, what I have noticed in the construction of the dampers between stock and GTi units is the diameter of the damper body, they are much larger. I've used a full set of gold coloured KYBs on a 205 GTI with SBC springs. I don't think they are either of the two you mention but I don't remember the exact model. I know a lot of jap car owners rate KYB quite highly, but that was mainly the uprated or adjustables. I was more interested in the OE replacements.
