SamGTi 0 Posted August 17, 2007 (edited) Right, I have been having some issues starting my car for a week now. There is just a clunk/click noise coming from the starter motor and nothing else. So far I have: Replaced starter motor Cleaned up starter wiring Cleaned up earths to gearbox and inner wing Cleaned up connections in brown multiplug Hit starter solenoid Rocked car with it in gear Linked the solenoid direct to the + battery terminal and it still just clunks/clicks and still no joy. When I replaced the starter (this morning) and tried the key, the starter made a different noise than the old one, maybe even a 'turning over very slowly' noise and the rev counter wavered around the 1500rpm mark for the first few attempts but now it just clunk/clicks again. So could the problem maybe lie in the battery not sending enough power to the starter? And if not, what else could it be coz I am losing my patience with it now! danpug 1 Posted August 17, 2007 I would definitely try a known good battery on it.

SamGTi 0 Posted August 17, 2007 Well, after all that time and effort, it was in fact my battery that was dead! I just tried a different one and it fired up first time. Still, at least I know how to change a starter motor now
