Dandu 0 Posted August 15, 2007 Hi, recently I got in trouble in starting the engine. The starter works, but the engine doesn't quiver. I've checked the spark, it's ok. Fuel pump and relay seem to work. Usually I still get to know the pum stoping and the relay clicking after turning the ignition off. The fuel pressure regulator seems to work fine. I only had a look at the hose, that's regulating the air pressure - nothing unsual. What else might be the problem? Any sensors? How do I check them? Much thanks for your help. Anthony 1,003 Posted August 15, 2007 Is fuel actually being injected? With the spark plug removed, crank the engine over - you should see fuel mist being forced from the open cylinder as the engine cranks over, and obviously a smell of petrol.
suth82 0 Posted August 17, 2007 Have you checked your timing?
Dandu 0 Posted August 17, 2007 It seems like my AFM doesn't get any power. At first I've checked the injector nozzles - no voltage during the attempt to start up the engine. The ECU has to come the conclusion, that no fuel is needed. Thus the AFM had to be checked. And this brought to the surface, that the power between the left and the right pin has vanished. It should be mentioned, that I've fiddled around with the AFM since some weeks. Some days ago I checked the power, and it was 7.5V. But now ... nothing. I hope, it's the cable coming from the ECU - not the ECU itself. Does anybody know, which PIN of the ECU is responsible for the power supply of the AFM? Dandu 0 Posted August 18, 2007 (edited) With the help of the following wiring diagram: http://www.peugeot205club.com/205klub_soub...ata/0932-12.pdf , page 19 I figured out, that my coolant temp sensor [21] might be out or order. Is there a chance, that the sensor might influence the startup? I couldn't catch a signal at PIN 10 of the ECU [45], while checking PIN 10A and M18 at the the AFM [1]. Is that usual? Or does the coolant temp sensor usually refuse to route a signal while the engine isn't running? Where is it located? I suppose there is a kind of variable resistor reflecting the temperature of the engine. What's the resistance corresponding to the startup temperature? I'd like to bridge the sensor for testing purpose only. Bye Dandu Edited August 18, 2007 by Dandu
Dandu 0 Posted August 18, 2007 (edited) I don't know, what has happened ... but the engine has kicked in again. After checking the coolant temp sensor (wires, sensor itself) ... I tried to fire the engine agein. And suddenly she came to life. I don't know, what happened ... but I've learned a lot about my car. Thanks to everyone involved. ORB 227 1 Cars Posted August 18, 2007 sounds like you have a lose connection somewhere near the thermostat housing. take em all off one by one and clean and check them all.
cybernck 402 1 Cars Posted August 19, 2007 only just seen this topic. yes, with CLT sensor disconnected, it will be massively overfueling and very hard to start up . by the way, this is the relation i've measured for it: 0'C ~ 5.5kΩ 24'C ~ 2.17kΩ 100'C ~ 240Ω
Dandu 0 Posted August 19, 2007 @ORB: That's my assumption as well. I hope, it won't come back very soon. But I'm prepared for the next battle. @Cybernck: I've already figured out the values - referencing the article of "205 GTi Injection Basics" by Zoldalma. But much thanks anyway ...
