Brake Pressure

Recommended Posts

hi, ive got a little problem with the rear brake pressures being quite different. i tought id get rid of it when i was sorting the back end out, but to my surprise its still there. :)

the rough readings i got from a brake tester at mot station was: passenger rear 150ish, drivers rear struggles to hit 100, both side handbrake hit 150ish. my problem is with the drivers side but ive just put a new compensator on and it made on difference, calipers are in good condition and brake pipes/hoses are all new after the compensator.

my only choises left are master cylinder or the brake pipe between. what do you think?

ps. the passenger compensator was done about a year ago bringing the pressure down from the same as the front to around half, so i rule that side out.

cheers. dave.

Hi Dave,

I had exactly the same problem with mine at the MOT 2 mths ago. Drivers side was half the pressure of the pax side so changed that compensator but made no difference at all. Changing the pax side compensator which was the higher reading brought it down to the same as the drivers side which is what they are looking for,the balance between the two and not the brake pressure as such! And they were both new 2 years ago!!!

I assumed it was the one with the lower pressure that was faulty but it was the opposite.

Cheers

Dave

im 90% sure its not the passenger side. as i said ive changed that side 1 or 2 years ago and it bought the brake pressure down from the same as the front to half as it still is now.

even tha tester said it was a bit low, as it dosent stop the rollers. to describe the way the reading went was. straight up to 50 and then slowly rises to around 100(sorry cant remember what the machine measures in), almost like the fluid is slowly making its way to the caliper.

cheers.
