speedyandy 0 Posted August 13, 2007 (edited) When converting to a 1.9 setup i.e hubs, driveshafts do you have to use the 1.9 lower arms or are they the same as the 1.6 Edited August 13, 2007 by speedyandy
Baz 421 Posted August 13, 2007 Hubs, driveshafts and discs, everything else is interchangable.

danpug 1 Posted November 10, 2007 Check the size of your hubnuts, can't remember the exact sizes right now but 1.9 hubnuts are bigger, a search should reveal all!
Ryan 99 Posted November 10, 2007 Hub nuts are 30mm on the 1.6 and base models, and 35mm on the 1.9 (or possibly 32 or 36mm if it has non-oem driveshafts)

McPikie 0 Posted November 10, 2007 Apart from using the 1900 hubs to fit better brakes, is there any other reason you would change them?
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted November 14, 2007 is there anyway i can find out if my harbs are 1.9 or 1.6 ones? You can tell what hubs are fitted without the need for a socket to find the size of your hubnut. The lip on the driveflange where the wheel locates is all you need to look at, if it is a solid lip its either a base model or 1.6 GTi hub, if there are two cutouts opposite each other, its a 1.9 GTi Hub. pete1986 2 Posted November 26, 2007 Is it essential to use 1900 hubs to fit 1900 calipers or will 1600 hubs be ok? Also are there any other benifits of using 1.9 hubs and driveshafts apart from for big brake conversions?
GLPoomobile 958 Posted November 26, 2007 You can fit 1.9 calipers to 1.6 hubs. It's the discs that are the issue due to the offset, so you have to retain the 1.6 discs. That's why you typically have to use 1.9 hubs when doing 'big brake' conversions, as there are very few (if any) off the shelf options for bigger discs with the right offset for 1.6 hubs.
