rnotman67 0 Posted August 12, 2007 I'm new to this site, just bought an Mi powered 205. I've removed the engine and am about to start stripping it down. I bought it from a friend who put it off the road as there was a noise coming from the bottom end. I have read lots about oil starvation problems etc etc. I was wondering what is all entailed in a crank regrind, I have read as well that T16 shells/bearings can be fitted. Can anyone fill me in on the details of this and what other things I should be looking out for. Also any options I should consider before I start stripping it down. cheers. Richie-Van-GTi 71 2 Cars Posted August 12, 2007 its hard to say what shells to buy without knowing the full history of the engine an the extent of the damage, best thing to do is remove the pistons and crank then give it to an engine builder so they can measure everything, grind what is necessary and fit the corresponding shells. I cant see any real benefit to using t16 shells against MI shells.
