willxs 0 Posted August 11, 2007 Connected the battery the other day and turned the key once to see if i had power, sure enough i did, but nothing lite up on the dials. turned it to the second point to see i there was any life to the dash but the starter motor turned over. what could cause this? jackherer 543 Posted August 11, 2007 Does it have this problem following fitting the 16v lump? Some 205s have the wires for the starter and ignition switched live swapped over on the two brown multiplugs under the dash... Its pin 6 of the smaller plug and pin 9 of the larger plug that need to be swapped.
willxs 0 Posted August 11, 2007 had the wiring done by 205parts. they've wired in the S16 loom etc. is that all that needs to be done then? just swap the 2 wires over? Cheers, Will
jackherer 543 Posted August 11, 2007 It certainly sounds like this is the problem you've got so yes, its just those two wires that need to be swapped. Did 205parts wire the loom into the car or did they just give you a loom to plug in yourself?
willxs 0 Posted August 11, 2007 they wired it in. well, said they sourced one that had already been done but they had tested it. then ive had to plug all the plugs etc into the engine rar rar Cheers, Will
jackherer 543 Posted August 11, 2007 If they haven't seen your car then its almost certainly those two wires swapped over, IMO the best thing to do is unclip the two brown plugs on the car loom and swap those two pins over to make your car compatible with the vast majority of other 205s. The only explanation for them being different on some cars that I've been able to come up with is that someone at Peugeot was taking the piss
willxs 0 Posted August 11, 2007 i'll have a look into it. my car was at there workshop being done there. what are the wire numbers? Cheers, Will
jackherer 543 Posted August 11, 2007 The starter is 46 (should be blue but cant count on it) and the switched ignition 12v is 2 (should be red, also has a smaller wire on the same pin, usually yellow and IIRC 32a?)
willxs 0 Posted August 11, 2007 nice one. Thanks! i shall have a look at it soon. Cheers, Will
