Lowered Rad On A Mi16

Recommended Posts

Guest stephen406

Hi All

My first post.

I have just bought a Miami Blue 205 Mi16 and i am tiding

up some things.

I noticed that the rad has been lowered, and not very tidely

done (cable ties, bits of wire etc).

Is there a clearance prob with the conversion?

Problem is the bottom hose driver side of the rad is

leaking and kinked and held together with tape.

There seems to be a smaller pipe teeing into it.

Can you get a new pipe or is there a way you can get one made up.

Or is it poss to put the rad back so i can buy a hose kit at a later date.

Thanks in advance Stephen

There's a clearance problem yes, but it's easily solved by cutting away some of the fan cowling to get the rad to sit closer to the fan, thus providing more room for the inlet manifold to tuck in behind it.

The water hose souns like a BX 16v one, that has a take off for the oil cooler, they are available although expensive, i'm looking at other options for this take off atm, and using the std metal pipe mounted on the inner wing, with 2 90d bend pipes to and from.

The reason for it being lowered is that on some conversions the secondary bonnet catch hits the top of the rad when you close the bonnet. I have just cut off the bottom plastic rad mounts on the fan shroud and made some small L shaped brackets that bolt on in the same place but 20mm lower.
