That's your bump stop. Stops the beam causing damage if you hit a bump bump and the suspension bottoms out. Should also stop your tyre coming in to contact with the arch. It's common for them to fall out as they are just pressed on to a little cup bolted to the shell, which often corrodes and disintegrates. Have a look to see if the cup is still in place, in which case by a new bump stop (from Pug, or get a poly one aftermarket from somewhere) and fit it. They are not expensive.

As Poo says, they're vital and a possible MOT advisory if not there.

The cup screws into the body and is often so badly corroded in you stand not a chance of getting the bolt out. I tried and failed even when I had my beam out. I gave up. I've still not refitted one :)

A poly one can be attached by different means, even gluing. My favoured method would be to drill into the stub of the bolt and tap a new thread to attach a replacement.

Thanks for raising this. It has reminded me that I really must do mine before the next MOT :D

Mine's passed 4 MOT's without the stops now and they are never mentioned.

I do have new cups and rubbers, and some new Polyflex ones but never got round to fitting them  Its impossible to remove the old cups/bolts/rusty mess.

I managed 1 out ok, Sam had tried previously I think and they nut was a mess, just used my trusty round off sockets and it came out. Otherside sheared so next time I'll use a bit of Oil. :)

I got some fancy powerflex ones (because they were cheaper than Peugeot. )
