DaveK 0 Posted August 9, 2007 Im in the middle of refurbing my suspension and was gonna order new standard shocks, -30mm springs and top mounting kits Is this all i would need to bin my old ones and have a nice new setup? I basically want to replace everything upwards of the hub Cheers, Dave
Ahl 4 Posted August 9, 2007 Yes, thats right. If you didn't mind a bit of surface rust on your top mounts, you might be able to save a bit of cash by just buying the bearings and top mount rubbers seperately. BBM does harder grp.N rubbers. Be careful which springs you buy also. Skip Brown roadspeed springs and Eibach 7001's get a good name, tried and tested, but others may be crashy. Also if you haven't already done so, make sure and check your ARB bushes and droplinnks.
GLPoomobile 958 Posted August 9, 2007 I had Eibach 7001 with standard shocks on my 1.9, which I then swapped on to my last 1.6 but with new bearings and Group N top mount rubbers. The ride was quite harsh and crashy, but comparing it to the Koni Yellow kit on my Mi I think I preferred the old setup. That's probably more indicative of the fact that I need to adjust my dampers to a more suitable setting, but regardless I felt the Eibach/standard shock combo seemed much more settled and in control when giving it death, whereas my Koni kit feels bouncy, floaty and unsettled. Silky 33 1 Cars Posted August 12, 2007 This is exactly what I need to do so good topic to chat about Davek. I'm looking to buy Bilstein shocks from ECP and Eibach 70001's along with new top mounts as at present my shocks are leaking and my top mounts are knackered
