Edd-XS 0 Posted August 7, 2007 Since having my Mi finally up and running thats been off road for 2 years, there have been a few slight teething issues, one being the odd erratic idle. It is now no longer erratic, but is very high when cold (2.5k!) but when warm is absolutely fine at a rock steady 1k. Is this the temp sensor, or could something else be causing it? Hope this is an easy one! Ta Edd
Richie-Van-GTi 71 2 Cars Posted August 7, 2007 does it use an idle air control valve? if so then Id maybe try borrowing one from someone else to try, also check any pipework associated with it for air leaks.
jim21070 2 Posted August 8, 2007 As Richie says, the ICV has to be first suspect. If not then it is most likely an air leak that reduces as the engine warms. A possible source may be the Throttle Body with air leaking past the butterfly spindle bearings. A known Mi16 problem. A squirt of WD-40 around the TB may reveal. As the TB warms and expands, such a leak is likely to reduce.
jackherer 543 Posted August 8, 2007 My money is on the throttle body, the ICVs are extremely reliable in my experience.
