I am looking at replacing the hard lines from the power steering hub to the hydraulic ram with flexible ones. purely because i can never get teh standard ones to seal .

Does anyone know the thread dimensions for the lines

cheers

I'm assuming I have the same problem also, as I have a nice big puddle of PAS fluid just under those pipes since I refit my PAS just before FCS. Can't use my car til I sort it :D

I found a spare pipe last night .

the threads are M12 x 1 .

So if the local hose people are open on saturday morning , i'm going to pop down there to see if they can help ...

What sort of size is the pipe itself?

If it's around 3/16" or 1/4" then is copper brake pipe a possible alternative? I find it seals easier than steel, and it's rated to 3000psi, which should be enough.

6mm steel , so copper could work , are there any issues with copper and power steering fluid ?

I don't think so. It's just hydraulic fluid really, same as you'd put in an automatic gearbox.

My mate works in hydraulics so I'll double-check with him, but I'm pretty sure it would be OK.

I had a set of pipes made up at the local hydraulic shop was about £30 for stainless braided hoses, the can reuse the solid bit, just resecuring the new hose to it. I have never had any problems with the new hoses etc.

would like to know what fittings you used .

i managed to get down to the local hose Specialist last week , and they said that they could do it , but looking at the adapters they were going to use , they wouldn't fit in the ram as the flanges were too large.

i ended up fitting a spare OE pipe , which seem to be holding............ For now ;)
