jas-E 1 Posted August 5, 2007 Hey guys, I just stripped an mi16 engine and the last thing that i have to do before starting putting bits together is to remove the liners, clean them up and change the o rings. I have read on the forum and in the haynes manual that the best way to do this is to turn the engine upside down (on an engine stand) and gently tap them using a block of wood and a mallet. I have tried that but mine seem to be stuck and dont seem to budge!! I have infact split 2 blocks of wood on the edge of the liners!! do i need to use brute force to remove them or is there a specific method/tool used?? cheers Jas

brianthemagical 1 Posted August 5, 2007 i got a small piece of wood, put that side on on to of the long hitting piece so the liner couldn't split down the grain.
jas-E 1 Posted August 6, 2007 i got a small piece of wood, put that side on on two of the long hitting piece so the liner couldn't split down the grain. i was thinking of doing that with a square section of aluminium - put it across the liner and whack that with a hammer..??or is ally not a good idea?? And also hit on the opposite edges every now and then. Make sure you have something soft that collects the liner when it falls out!
