bobob 0 Posted August 3, 2007 What would cause a rattle on a S16 engine? Do the cam belt covers rattle at all? Thanks.
welshpug 1,657 Posted August 3, 2007 bottom end bearings, big end bearings, exhaust manifold heatshield. theres only one timing belt cover, and ive never see one rattle unless the fixings were broken
205007 12 Posted August 3, 2007 (edited) is it a rattle, knock or buzzing? Edited August 3, 2007 by 205007
boombang 2 Posted August 3, 2007 I had a rattle on an Mi16 engine for a while that never caused any issues, but it turned out to be a knackered valve guide on the exhaust - only rattled when either holding throttle steady or on closed throttle, with the worst noise at 3k RPM
bobob 0 Posted August 3, 2007 Its a rattle, like, maybe, a nut loose. Its on the top somewhere. Seems to be over to the left side, when looking at it from he front. I only noticed it doing it when it was on tick over as I was putting my car away for the night
